About Literature
I have been a research-worker and lecturer in literature at Swedish
universities since my doctoral thesis in 1969, first at Stockholm and
subsequently at Umeå and Uppsala.
In addition I have been guest researcher and lecturer at the Freie Universität in Berlin and at Harvard University, Cambridge, U.S.A. Among several lecture tours I have travelled throughout U.S.A and Scandinavia. The main part of my research has been concerned with the writings of Gösta Oswald, Fredrika Bremer, Selma Lagerlöf and Sara Lidman. I have also contributed to the five volumes of Nordic Women's History of Literature as well as written numerous essays and articles on a wide variety of subjects from Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" to the trial of O. J. Simpson. Lately, my field of interest is enlarged to include social dancing. My guiding principle is textual analysis but I also make use of such approaches as feminism, psychoanalysis, marxism and contextualisation.
